How to still look put-together during an OMG moment
When you don't have your full makeup and hair product line on hand, a good time frame or the space to perform touch-ups, it can make looking good a seemingly impossible task. Here are some great skills and tips for the next time you're caught in a beauty bind.
- You got caught in the rain and your hair is soaked
Don't freak out as this could actually work to your advantage - the wetness can give you a sexy, disheveled appearance when your hair finally dries. After making it inside and out of the dreary weather, be sure to quickly wring out your hair, smooth it back with your fingers and twist it into a bun on the top of your head. By pulling your hair back ASAP it will help keep some of the parts dry and save the volume. Allow your bun to air-dry and then shake it out - you'll end up with a loose, messy texture! - You picked a zit scab on your face
Apply pressure to the bloody spot with a tissue or piece of paper towel to make it quickly scab back over. After about five minutes, gently dab concealer over the area and cover with a loose powder. When you get home, apply a healing ointment and continue to do so twice a day until it finally heals. - You slept over and now you have raccoon eyes
This is one of those time to opt for that slightly smudgy and oh-so-sexy look. Head to the bathroom once you wake up and look in the medicine cabinet for petroleum jelly and cotton swabs. Place a small amount of the jelly on the swab and use it to clean off your eyeshadow and whatever has moved down to your cheeks; but leave your mascara and a tiny bit of eyeliner on so you still have some makeup. Use a tissue to wipe off the excess and rub your eyeliner with the tip of your finger for the smudgy, morning-after appearance. - You've woken up with greasy hair - and you're late
This is a time for the wonderful dry shampoo. Focus on making the surface of your hair look amazing with the spray and be sure to target the roots. Let it dry for three minutes and then brush it out. Baby powder works just as well in place of dry shampoo. Do something interesting with your hair, like a braid around your hairline, or get funky with bobby pins to take the focus off your greasy bangs. If you're really short on time, simply throw your hair into a bun after using the spray/powder. - You have red wine teeth
If you're indulging in red wine, your pearly whites may pay the consequences with a wine-stained hue. Ask the bartender for a lemon slice and snag a little table salt before heading to the bathroom. Sprinkle the salt onto one side of the lemon and rub it back and forth across your teeth. The acid in the lemon breaks down the wine residue and the salt will help scrape it off. If you also have bad breath, rub the unsalted side of the lemon onto your tongue and then rinse your mouth with water. - You went to the gym but you don't have time to shower
Rinse off your face, chest and underarms with a damp cloth, then shake out your ponytail and flip your hair over. Using your fingers, rough up your roots as it will make the ponytail crease less obvious. Finally, gather your hair into a low ponytail and scrunch the tail up with your fingers for added texture. - Your lipstick rubbed off and you left your lip colour at home
If you're at work, raid the office sweets for a stash of hard, red candies. Lick the candy and rub it back and forth across your lips as you would lipstick and it should leave a nice stain for a few hours. If there isn't any candy, buy some cranberry juice or fruit punch and dab a few drops onto your lips. Apply lip balm, if you have some, for a final finishing touch.
No matter what beauty disaster-like situation you feel you are in, there is a way you can fix it! You may not feel like a million bucks but act like you do and no one will know the difference. By feeling confident and having the ability to laugh during these moments you will always be a knockout beauty in everyone's eyes.
