How-To Look Great Even When You Don't Feel Great

By

Look gorgeous no matter what situation you're faced with.

No matter what you're faced with - bad weather, sickness, a hangover, etc. - you can still look amazing regardless. With these easy steps there's no obstacle your beauty can't conquer!

Beauty Obstacle: Bad Weather

  • Carry a white umbrella. It will reflect the light onto your face and brighten up your skin tone.
  • Tame Frizz. Use a frizz serum on rainy and humid days. The best way to use a serum is to apply it evenly to wet hair.
  • Glowing Skin. Play up your skin's radiance on rainy days by using a tinted moisturizer and a peach or fuchsia-coloured lip gloss. The colour will give your skin a healthy glow.
  • Colour Your Eyes. Try wearing an eyeshadow in a sky blue or grass green tone. They're cool tones which are a nice contrast to the gray skies.
  • Play Up Your Curls. If you're dealing with humidity there's a good chance you'll be dealing with curls - may as well look like you meant to! Apply a curl-enhancer on humid days and twirl sections of your hair around your fingers. Aim a blowdryer with a diffuser attached at each finger spiral for a few seconds each.
  • Repair Downpour Damage. If you get stuck in a sudden downpour simply head to the nearest restroom and blast your hair with a hand dryer. Apply a little gel, hand lotion, lip gloss or anything creamy to help tame frizz on your ends.

Beauty Obstacle: You're Overtired

  • Decrease Eye Bags. Apply a bit of Preparation H lotion to your eyelids (but be sure to keep it at least a millimeter away from your lashes). The lotion will tighten your puffy eye skin. If you don't have Preparation H in your medicine cabinet try an eye cream containing caffeine or mint - both ingredients can help shrink dilated blood vessels.
  • Go For Neutral Makeup. Opt for peach and brown blush and eye shadow shades to warm up a drained complexion.
  • Cover Under-Eye Circles. Pat on a concealer one shade lighter than your skin tone to hide your dark under-eye circles. You can also mix a tiny bit of soft white cream eye shadow into your normal concealer for the lighter tone and a hint of brightness.
  • Citrus. Spritz on a citrus perfume or body spray to revive your tired body. Citrus is stimulating and makes you feel more alert.

Beauty Obstacle: You're Sick.

  • Whiten Red Eyes. Lie down on a pillow and hold a cold-pack over your eyes. The coolness whitens your eyes in just a few minutes by constricting the blood vessels.
  • Colour Your Lips. Choose a rosy pink gloss or stain for your lips when you're sick. The happy colour brings life to your lips, unlike nude shades.
  • Choose Bronzer Over Blush. When you're sick or feverish, blush can overwhelm your face and make you look even redder. Opt for bronzer instead to counteract the pinkness.
  • Prevent A Cold Sore. The moment you feel a tingle ask your doctor for medication or start applying whatever you have found works best. Acting fast might just help you prevent or at least decrease the stay of the unsightly skin irritation.

Beauty Obstacle: PMS

  • Combat period breakouts. Use hydrocortisone cream to shrink the major pimples that appear during that time of the month. The cream is an anti-inflammatory which reduces redness and swelling. Cover the spot with benzoyl peroxide and concealer.
  • Banish Body Aches. Treat yourself to a two-minute body scrub while in the shower using a stiff-bristled brush. You'll soothe those sore body parts with long strokes that feel as though you're getting a massage.
  • Facial Water Retention. Uncover those lost cheekbones by dusting bronzer onto the hollows of your cheeks, then sweep peach blush onto the apples of your cheeks.
  • Get Rid Of Hair Grease. Hormones can make your scalp greasier than usual so be sure to brush your hair to move the oil away from your scalp. Lift your roots off your scalp and mist them with hairspray to keep them from sticking to your head in an undesirable way.

These are all tips that you can do in the morning and during the days that you feel lousy, but what about the times you know you're going to have a hectic day? Crazy days can cause you to feel just as bad about your looks as those bad weather, over-tired, sick or PMSing days because you're doing so much rushing and stressing.

When you are expecting a hectic day, prepare the night before by showering and doing your blowout before bed. Tie your hair into a neat ponytail to keep it under control while you sleep and swipe on deodorant to avoid any body odors caused during the night. Doing an at-home facial peel and moisturizing the night before will guarantee that you'll wake up glowing and therefore it will be unnecessary to take all those steps in the morning to freshen your complexion. And lastly, sleep on a satin pillowcase - you'll wake up with smooth hair due to the slippery fabric and your face won't look like a roadmap of creases.

All these tips are great ways to ensure you're always feeling and looking beautiful, no matter what odds are thrown your way, so be prepared to start being a 24/7 knockout!
